Super easy Cricut shadow box idea
Table of Contents
Are you looking for a quick and easy gift or a Cricut shadow box idea for a project? Perhaps some Springy-colored DIY Home Decor after a few months of snow and rain. I’ve spotted ideas similar to the one I created above out on the good old world wide web lately! It always amazes me the amount of creativity we have out there. Well cozy up and see how I put my own spin on this one and share exactly how I made mine.

This project is especially quick if you have a cutting machine like the Cricut Explore Air 2 or the Cricut Maker. I admit my Cricut shadow box project took a wee bit longer as I had a very special gift idea in my mind and needed to paint the frame so it would be just right! (Just like Goldilocks!)
My Mom and Dad have What?!?!?
You see, my Mom and Dad have Bathroom themes in their home, or perhaps I should say their Bathrooms are “Themed”. So unique right? I’m lucky if my colors match and there is no obvious dog hair…Ya know when ya gotta go tinkle and your pup is looking at you with a ball in their mouth thinking…I got her now!!! She actually stopped to cop a squat!
So one of their Bathrooms is themed in John Wayne, it is AMAZING! It’s the half bath located in her rather LARGE Craft/Sewing room. Course there’s a hint of why I love to Create with Love, She started it! ♥ I love you MOM! Can you just picture all her lady friends who get to go pee with the Duke!
Second themed bathroom
Oh my The Master bath, well let’s just say my Mom thought since she had her themed bathroom why not let her Honey have his theme, which is totally decked out in the San Francisco 49er Football theme! Go Niners!!! I love you too Dad!
This leads me to the guest bath, it’s all decked out in bright blue colors with a bird theme. She has so many lovely bird houses that she has painted and personalized. You can’t help but linger in there to admire the beauty. Plus it has a lovely soaking tub all decked out with spa accessories to take in the beauty!
Who is my Cricut shadow box idea for?
So guess who my gift was for? Yup! you guessed it my Mom ♥ I thought how nice it would be to bring in the blue colors of her bathroom and soak right there in that tub and take in the beauty of migrating birds. A little bit on this later as I first want to share my steps in this project “Created with Love”
First, I happened to have this Shadowbox on hand that is designed for the T-Shirt display, but the only issue was I wanted the frame to be white. No problem, I grabbed a can of Krylon Color Master paint + primer in bright white satin.
This paint is great as it can be used on metal • wood • plastic + more! Since I was going from a black frame to adding white it did take 3 coats, and since it was humid, cold, and raining it seemed like it took forever as I couldn’t wait to see all the fun ways to place my little birdies!

Let’s get started with this fun-loving Cricut shadow box project!
First, let me apologize as some of these pictures are not bright enough as I had an issue with my lighting set up, but on the last (the final project) I enlisted my lightbox – It is amazing!!!
Here is the Black Shadow Box I had on hand. If I recall I picked it up on sale at Michael’s with a coupon of course!
Video of a Dragonfly Shadow Box Art added now!
Shadow Box Art Project – Dragonflies

Here I’m adding 12 X 12 white paper and I used my Elmer’s Multipurpose Spray Glue to apply the paper to the cardboard from the Shadow Box…

Next, it’s time to line up the Heart just right so you can lightly trace around it with a pencil. Note: If you plan to leave say a 2-3 inch part of the heart open so the Birds or Butterfly’s or Dragonfly’s, whichever you decide to fill up the heart with, make sure to erase the pencil mark in that area “before” you glue your items in ♥ You’ll Thank me later He He HA!

Here comes the fun part which goes actually quite quickly! I folded my bird’s wings before I placed them in their bowls to provide more dimension to my project. When I created my birds I made each of the 3 birds in all 3 of the shades of blue and I also flipped each bird horizontally via Cricut Design Space since all birds really don’t always fly in the same direction! If you need assistance with this, please reach out to me so I may assist!

Almost done, so close to putting in the frame! The fact that a wing is folded really makes this project fly by quickly! Pick up wing end, dab a touch of glue, and place on paper. And since I always “Create with Love” it’s simply a fine place to be ♥

And in the shadow box frame….

To Wrap this Cricut shadow box project up….
I’ll say it definitely has a WOW factor in person!!! I noted earlier I wanted to touch base on the “migration” factor. Well, a funny side note…My Mom and Dad did not update to their themed bathrooms until my Brother (Steve, Yo Bro, I know you’ll read this lol) and I migrated to our own homes. Perhaps I’ll try going south for the winter and see if when I come back I have a Willie Nelson – Lukas & Micah Nelson (Willie’s Boys) Themed Bathroom…HA!
Please leave me a comment, I’d love to hear what kind of themed bathroom you’d love to have. After I give my lovely Mom her present I’ll be sure to ask if I can share some pictures with my readers of their themed beauties!
Gift hanging in the themed bathroom!
