I admit, I have a “thing” for Banner’s. There are endless ideas for new designs. For me, I believe my ‘thing” started when I fell in love with those cute mini flags you see in front and back yards all across America. Ya know the kind that are generally made with fabric of some sort and hangs on a rod iron holder?
They make large size flags or banners for the outdoors that can hang from a pole or some horizontal fashion. My parents have several types and I take great pleasure in pulling up to their house and seeing which ones are hanging this day. Some days I don’t even have to guess which type of banner/flag such as it’s someone’s birthday = Birthday banner!
What day is it ?!?
It goes something like this for any banner or flag…
- First day of Spring = Spring banner
- Easter = Easter banner
- Pool Party = Pool party banner
- Football Sunday = Football team banner
- Congratulations! for what? Anything LOL
- Yup! Does not even have to be “a” day!
- You get the drill!

Design Spring Banner
So I wanted my spinning bunnies to match the banner this year or vice versa. Let’s just say they inspired each other. I knew I wanted a very small curved banner as opposed to a loose half circle hanging banner so the bunnies could have free reign to spin freely!
With this idea in mind I wanted to give the banner some pizzazz of it’s own. So I came up with a scalloped top edge which comes up from the back and up over the ribbon and then tied with another ribbon bow for each letter.
To keep the projects cohesive and not too busy I chose patterned paper and solids to help balance it all out. Could I have gone to a craft store and picked out better papers to match better? Probably BUT that is another way to stay in budget, use what you already have, which is exactly what I did!
Some pictures to help you…
In the Cricut Design Space screen shot below, it shows more of the bottom half of banner. The back layer is the scalloped piece, next layer up is the printed paper and top layer is the letter to match the bottom piece.
So if you look at the completed banner and compare to the Cricut Design Space file picture you can see how I chose the colors to remind me which papers to feed onto the Cricut Mat.

So guess what?!?
Notice Spring is 6 letters? Well so is Easter and Summer and I could go on and on. All I am saying is if you want your banner to say Easter instead of Spring or Summer etc, all you have to do is change the letters in this DS File. Bam! You’ve got your self a personalized project.
See what I mean?
This Banner project…no matter how you design each one can be SO Special and designed by you, whether you use fabric, paper, combo of both…The ideas just burst out of my head…I could seriously open up a 1 800 phone number and have people tell me what they are doing on a particular day and I’d be “I have a banner for that!” Ha!
