I have a super easy Glitter HTV project to make a Red Truck Garden Flag for a gift or keep for yourself. The glitter makes a welcome surprise during the winter months when less color is in our area.
You could easily change the images to suit your desired welcoming garden flag.
Let me show you the super easy steps to make this amazing Red Truck Garden Flag!
Oh, and I have a video of the entire process as well if you love to watch visually! 🙋♀️
Supplies
- Glitter HTV
- Flag Banner
- Easy Press
- Easy Press Mat
- Heat Pressing Sheet
- Weeding tools
- Cricut Explore Air or Cricut Maker
- Cricut Design Space File located in my resource library

The Process
Designing
Start with a new project in Cricut Design Space

Search Christmas Tree Truck Image and select

Search Merry Christmas Image and select

Click on Shapes and choose a square to make the banner flag template

Click on the lock icon to unlock and change the width to 12″ and Length to 18″ then lock the lock back up. This template is just to help you see what size you need to make your 2 images (Truck, Merry Christmas) Once you’ve decided on the size images you want, you will be deleting the template as you won’t need it anymore.

Click on the percentage area on the lower left-hand side of the canvas where my mouse pointer is at and change it from anywhere between 50-75%. Just so you can view the whole template without having to scroll left to right or up/down. Now you will be able to drag your images smaller or bigger to fit this template.
The way you size your images will be exactly how they will cut out even when you bring your canvas back up to 100%. So awesome and helpful!
Once you have your images sized how you want them, then it’s good to update your image colors approx to what HTV or materials you will be using. This will help you know what color of the material you have and plan on using for each mat.

Click on the template you made and then click on the X in the upper left-hand corner to delete the template as you will no longer need it.

Click on “Make It” in the upper right-hand corner in Green
Be sure to mirror each mat you see in the below picture if you plan on using HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl) Simply click on the slider and it will change to a green color.
Each mat color you see below will have its own Mirror slider button. Be sure to check them all. Then click on continue and choose the material you will be using.
For this project, I selected Glitter Iron-On. After you select your material it will send what is needed to your Cricut cutting machine. If your Cricut is flashing the arrow button you know it’s ready to load a mat of material.

Cutting
If using HTV be sure to lay your HTV shiny side down on your mat. The shiny side is the clear carrier sheet that the vinyl sticks to.

Once it’s done cutting each mat, you will need to pull away excess HTV that you won’t need in your design and weed anything remaining such as the inside of a letter O or A.
Weeding

Apply
This Design Space file is prepared so you do not layer any vinyl on top of any vinyl. This is very important for using Glitter HTV. You should never layer glitter on top of glitter HTV. More on this here.
Place the first image (red truck) on your garden flag blank where you want it to adhere and cover your image with a Heat Pressing Sheet. Use the Easy Press for 10 sec to just tack the HTV into place.

Allow to cool a few seconds and peel back the clear carrier sheet very slowly. If it is sticking then continue to peel. If the HTV lifts up from the garden flag then cover with the heat pressing sheet and add 5 more sec with the Easy Press until you can safely peel away the carrier sheet.

Continue the same process as above for each layer. In the last layer, you will do the final 15 sec time on all of the layers.

In this design, the tree layer was my final layer for the truck so I then covered the entire truck with the heat pressing sheet and pressed it at 320 degrees for 15 sec.
I then moved on to the final image “Merry Christmas”. This is just one image with no layering. Just be sure to not directly put the Easy Press onto the completed truck layer.
Since there are no layers you can just press it for the full 15 sec. If you need to, you can add more time if it feels like it’s not sticking completely.

There you have it! Super easy Red Truck Garden Flag and a beautiful project to admire that YOU created! You can do this, I promise. 😉
