Learn how to make these beautiful Infusible Ink Ceramic Coasters – Great for gifts for all kinds of occasions. They can be used at home or work and even an RV! They are very easy to personalize and have quickly become one of my favorite craft projects! I’m quite certain you will fall in love with just how easy these are to create with love ♥ I teach you how to easily make Infusible Ink Coasters and include a video as well.
I’ve made quite a few coasters since Cricut came out with the Infusible Inks. If you missed my Infusible Ink Square Coasters, you can find them here. Both of Cricut’s Coaster Blanks (Ceramic Round & Square Cork) have a specific coating for the Infusible Ink to adhere to. So be sure to pick your coaster blanks wisely. You can not go into Home Depot or Lowe’s ETC and pick up a Ceramic title and have a positive outcome with Infusible Ink.

The Process
SPECIAL NOTE: Before handling Infusible Ink, wash your hands with soap/water to remove anything such as lotions that may harm your beautiful design.
Infusible Ink can be applied in several different ways on Ceramic Coasters.
- Infusible Ink Transfer Sheets
- Infusible Ink Pens
- Using a Cricut Easy Press 1 or 2
For this tutorial, I’ll be using only the Infusible Ink Transfer Sheets. But wanted you to be aware you could draw/color using the Infusible Ink Pens or have your Cricut draw with the Infusible Ink Pens on laser paper and then heat press your very own artwork to the Infusible Ink Coaster Blanks. How awesome is that! (I will have a tutorial on this soon)

Designing
The ceramic blank coasters are 3.6″ in size so this is the size circle shape I chose in Design Space. Then I hit the duplicate button 3 times to end up with 4 perfectly sized circles.
I then found a font I like and typed and sized the words I wanted. I then centered the word in the middle with the align tool and sliced the word out of the circle. So easy!
Once done with all four designs you can click on make it and be sure to mirror the design for all “Infusible Ink Projects” and choose “Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet” for the material.
Cutting Infusible Ink Transfer Sheets
Place Infusible Ink Transfer sheet ink side up with liner side down on “standard” grip cutting mat.

Load the mat and the “fine-point blade” into the cutting machine and press “load”

Once the go light starts flashing, press go

Now that the cut is complete, hit the load button to remove your mat and admire the cut circles on the Infusible Ink Transfer sheet.

Now turn the mat upside down and carefully peel back the mat while holding the transfer sheet flat down on your surface

Be careful not to curl the mat too tight, just go a little at a time 😊

Now you can cut with scissors the excess Infusible Ink Transfer sheet to save for another project. I roll mine back up and store it back inside the plastic roll and box it came in. This will protect it until the next use.

Weeding Infusible Ink
You will not gently roll each piece to reveal where the lines are to weed your design. When complete the only pieces left on your liner will be your design. You will be weeding/removing all the rest of the pieces you don’t need.

Once the letters are weeded out, find the edge of each circle and bend slightly and tear towards the outside

Then pull off the outside piece in one strip until removed

Applying Infusible Ink to Ceramic Coasters
Now is a great time to check Cricut’s Heat Guide for your precise settings. Cricut has done a fantastic job also showing how to layer your project for optimum outcomes.
Cricut’s Heat Guide is literally as simple as 1 2 3
- Select which press you are using
- Select which heat transfer material you are using
- Select which base material you are using
Then hit “Apply”
First I laid my Easy Press Mat on my desktop then put my 80# white cardstock on top of it to protect any ink from getting on my Easy Press Mat.

Now lay your Infusible Ink Transfer Design on top of the cardstock with liner side down and ink side facing up (I will be pressing 4 coasters at once)

Place your Ceramic Coaster Blank upside down on top of the Infusible Ink Transfer sheet design and carefully center it.

You have not used heat yet so it is ok to be SURE you have it centered perfectly at this point. It won’t hurt anything to adjust the movement a bit 😉

Line up all four ceramic coasters

Grab your butcher paper from your Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet box

Almost done! All we need now is the Heat Press applied. Follow the Heat Guide settings for which Easy Press you have.
Be very careful to place Easy Press straight down to cover all four coasters. Set the timer and do not move the press until the timer is done and then carefully pull Easy Press straight back up and back on the stand.

Once the timer is complete, carefully pull straight up

Carefully lift up the Butcher paper but do not touch the coasters as they are extremely HOT!

Just how hot are they 10 sec after lifting the Easy Press off?

Approx 15-20 min later they were cooled enough to pick up and admire their beauty!
