Feel free to sign up for my free Resource Library/Newsletter just above and use my Cricut Design Space files located here. There are files for 2019 which are Cricut Design Space Files only. This year, 2020 & 2021 I designed files for SVG, DXF, EPS, and PNG formats. I also bought a font I fell in love with for crafting. The font is called: Birthday Party – A cute & quirky handwritten font found here. But you can also pick from one of the many Cricut Design Space fonts for free as well.
Here are the 2019 Files shown below.

Here are the 2020 Files shown below.

I’ve noticed most elves had a name, year and a snowflake as an example. I wanted to add a few more ideas out there to show how you can personalize the Dollar Tree Elf even more.
Use your imagination and go wild!
Cutting
Prior to cutting, Cricut’s software will remind you to “Mirror” your mats since you are using HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl) This is a VERY important step for not wasting material. Mirror each mat if only cutting HTV.
Be sure to place HTV on the mat, Shiny side down, dull side up! This is because you want the Cricut to cut the vinyl portion but not all the way through the clear carrier sheet. This will be more clear when you see the weeding process.

Once you place the HTV shiny side “down” on your green mat, load it into your Cricut cutting machine by pressing the load (arrow) button to load your mat into the machine.
When the button with a “C” on it starts flashing, push it and it will proceed to cut your HTV (Heat Transfer Vinyl) for you. So Awesome!!! Ok, so I have to admit I love watching my Cricut cut or engrave, you name it, It’s just fun to watch! 😜
Once the cutting is complete you will need to hit the load button one more time to unload your mat.
Weeding
Weeding is the process of removing the excess HTV surrounding your design. I like to weed with the dull side up and shiny side down. I always start in a corner and use a weeding tool to start the process. It will take you no time to become a pro at weeding any of your designs!

Applying HTV with an Easy Press Mini
Oh, how I love my Cricut Easy Press Mini! I honestly had no idea just how much I’d use the cutest little iron/press. It’s just so stinking cute and easy to pull out and use for small items. It also does an amazing job of applying HTV to my Dollar Tree Elves.
Easy Press Process
For this project, I am using Cricut’s Every day HTV and Glitter HTV. The Dollar Store Elf is primarily of a polyester blend fabric.
I checked the Cricut’s Heat Guide settings which prompted a Medium Heat setting (two green lines) on the Easy Press Mini. Pre-heat 5 sec and a 25 – sec press while using a Heat Pressing Sheet over the design element.
I’ll show you the process but it’s simply as easy as 1, 2, 3 & 4. YaY!
Pre-heat 5 sec

Arrange image

Cover with Heat Pressing Sheet – UPDATE – This year I only used the Heat Pressing Sheet for a layered design or when my Easy Press Mini may come in contact with the edge of a Heat Transfer Design. This system works great.
You can use either method. If you are new to using HTV and the Easy Press Mini, just be careful not to keep the medium heat on for over 25 sec. I filmed another video shown below showing this process in 2020. 😊

Warm Peel per Heat Guide for this project
Once I was done with the 25-sec press I moved on to the next image. When done with this image I then removed the clear carrier sheet from my previous press. That’s it, so EASY!

Hi Karen, My site had issues with signing up for the Resource Library today. I was able to re-add my forms. Please let me know if you are still having issues. So sorry! But, thanks so much for letting me know ❤
how do i get svg file instead of template.
thank you
Donna
Hi Donna, I named the file(s) Templates because I include the following files in my Resource Library for the Dollar Tree Elves: .SVG .DXF .EPS .PNG These files are inside of a Zipped Folder. Most of my blog pages have a sign-up form to the Resource Library. Once you have the password, all my files are free! I hope this helps 😊
Hi there! What size did you do for the 2020 smiley?
Hi Blanca, One is 1 1/2″ wide (covid christmas one) The other two (boni and denise ones) were 1 9/16″ wide. It’s really a personal preference though. Enjoy!
I tried to find the link for the free files to download unsuccessfully;thanks anyway.
