Cricut gave us some love with the latest Cricut Design Space update. Cricut Design Space updated their software in March of 2020 to Version 5.7.20. They streamlined the search features amongst some other updates. I am happy to highlight some of the new features.
Cricut gave us some AMAZING enhancements with the recent Cricut Design Space Update of 2020 version 5.7.20.
This updated version was specific for PC/Mac.
How to use the New Image Search
Table of Contents
When you click on “Images” in Cricut Design Space you will see the new Landing Page below.

The first thing you notice is there are multiple helpful ways to search for your images now.
It still boggles my mind that Cricut has added over 127,477 images for us! Plus they are always adding more. Thank you Cricut ♥
I can not even imagine scrolling through that many images without the AMAZING search filters and experience they recently gave us with this latest update.
Let me help break down different methods we now have to search

The top blue box is where you can type in specifically the item your searching for. You could put just type the word heart which currently will bring up 6,055 heart-related images. (More on this step below) Or if you already know the image # simply type that in as I did below.

So in a nutshell, First you can either Browse all images or Select a Category.
Next, you’ll be delighted to see and use the new & updated Filter System on the left side.

What is the new Smart Filter?
The smart filter will be on the left side once you select browse all images or a category. This is where you can refine or streamline your search criteria.
Currently here are the Smart Filters
- Cricut Access
- Type
- Art Type
- Image Complexity
- Layers
- Ownership
- Brand
- Material
- Language
Each heading listed in the Smart Filter has 2 or more sub-filters to choose from. Simply click on the plus symbol to reveal each one.

My favorite right now is the fact they added “Draw” Celebrate with me now friends, I’m officially doing the happy dance 💃

Speaking of Drawing projects I created a Rainbow Bridge drawing card in case you missed it. It was fun using so many different pen colors for one project.
Where are my Cartridges for PC/Mac
I received several emails asking me where they could find the cartridges once they received their Cricut Design Space Update. Once I realized this was a slight source of confusion I quickly created a video to show a few of the search features on YouTube. That video is just below.
Your cartridges are now called “Image Sets”
They can be found on the Image Landing page when you click on Images in Cricut Design Space

Where are my Cartridges for iPhone/iPad + Video!
Ok, I realize this post is specifically for PC/Mac users but I’ve also been asked where are my Cartridges when using my iPhone or iPad. I created a cute short sweet video for you! Who loves you more?!? 🙋♀️

How to filter My Ready-to-Make Projects by Cricut Machine Type
If you have more than one Cricut machine such as a Cricut Explorer and a Cricut Maker or Cricut Joy then you are blessed with another update that is awesome! Plus even if you have one Cricut Machine this same feature applies for you too! (you just don’t need to switch which machine per project)
Before you start your new project be sure to select which Cricut Machine you will be using for this project. This is great for several reasons such as only showing settings available to your specific Cricut Machine.
But with this new update, it will now filter for you the Ready-To-Make Projects by machine selection. Thanks again Cricut, so helpful! 🙌

This applies to only Cricut’s Ready-To-Make Projects. I will provide a link here to learn more about this update if it applies to you.
